Is it an art collecting sort of weekend? Perigold’s Insider Event kicks off soon and today is early access to sale items. Many of my paintings are 20-25%. Buy them through Perigold (or if local to Boston buy them directly from me for hand delivery.)
I’m excited to announce, somewhat delayed, that sometime in early Covid times, I became the first one-of-a-kind artist on Wayfair’s Perigold site. It is exciting to be on such a prestigious, designer site, especially as my inaugural launch of direct-to-designer and direct-to-consumer sales online!
Though you can always buy directly from me, you can also see or buy my paintings on Perigold and use their digital tools to see each piece in room setting.
Thank you all for following along on my self-created 31 Day Art Making Challenge during July. It was both fun and exhausting, but I guess that is what a challenge is!
All 31 Day Challenge Pieces for Sale
I really enjoyed having a number of other people join in on the challenge — Jenni and her detailed rock paintings, Allison and her daughter Ella trying out different subjects in watercolor, Kerry with a cameo appearance of nail art, and, the young lady who matched me day for day on the challenge, 9 year old Vanessa from Needham, MA! It was a lot of fun.
Each Piece is for Sale
Each piece I did this past month is for sale for charity. 95% of the price you pay will go to Now + There , a Boston organization dedicated to improving public art and educating more artists to be able to do large scale public art projects. This organization is committed to neighborhoods in Boston that need more art and funding and teaching artists that are often unable to access the expensive public art projects.
Mission:
To deliver thought-provoking, public art projects that advance new definitions of public art, acculturate Boston to the cultural, social and economic benefits of art, and help define Boston’s essential public art identity.
Throughout the pandemic Now + There has continued to host virtual discussions with local artists and community members to look at what different Boston neighbors need right now. Check out the discussion here.
Set Your Own Price
Each piece has a base price of $31. Donate that (which is fantastic!) or tell me what you what donation you’d like to make for the piece. 5% will go to shipping the piece to you and if I don’t use it all I’ll add it to the donation. To save on fees, you can pay me by Venmo, check, or cash.
How Does This Work?
Find What You Like: Look at the images below and pick which piece you want.
Let Me Know: Contact me (email, text, phone) to tell me which piece you want, how much you want to donate, and confirm the piece is still available in case I’m behind in marking each ‘sold’.
Donate: Together we will coordinate a way to pay and a method of Covid-safe delivery.
Enjoy: If you need ideas for displaying the piece please let me know!
Copyright: Like all works of art, I continue to own the copyright for image (e.g. you can’t make wallpaper out of it) but you own the rights to hang it in your home (or put it in a closet.)
Donate Instead: If there is no piece you want but you want to support Now + There, donate here or read about other options to support them. And tell me about it so we can track our collective effort.

Curated by artist Irbahim Ali-Salaam, Newton’s New Art Center put together an online show of recent posters that stand in support and alliance with Black and Brown neighbors, globally.
3 of my Black Lives Matters/Pride 2020 images were selected for the show.

Tomorrow I’m kicking off a 31 day of art making challenge! On each of the days of July I’ll spend 1-2 hours creating art on paper. Those are the only rules.
After completing a large 8.5 foot x 6 foot commission (blog post to follow), I’ve been a little dull on the creative side. The pandemic stress resulted in a lot of mask making, too much cooking and too many dishes, and very little spontaneous painting or drawing. Now is time to unstick that!
I’ve also moved to a new apartment for the summer, before my next new apartment is ready in September (pandemic issues), and I’ve set up my first dedicated adult art space.
Well, its 2 pieces of wood on saw horses on plastic drop cloths … but it is NOT the dining room table!!!!
31 Day Art Making Challenge
My goal is to get unstuck on the art front. Not just creatively, though that is a big part, but also all the things I’ve been avoiding – like blog posts, cleaning out dried paint tubes and ruined brushes, learning how to be a more environmentally-friendly painter, and so on. I’m hoping that by creating art everyday (having ‘creative discipline’) I will crack open the barrier I’ve put between my time and my art life.
What’s the Challenge?
I’ve prepared and randomly sorted 31 pieces of different types of ‘paper’ – Yupo (plastic,) watercolor, pastel, canvas, and drawing paper – between 4×6 inches and 11×4 inches. Though I’ll use the same medium on some, each paper type requires a different type of medium – watercolor, acrylic ink, alcohol ink, acrylic, pencil, charcoal, pastels, markers, maybe even stamping. Who knows?! I’ve labeled each day on the back of each piece of paper so I can’t skirt the hard types of paper or mediums.
The subject can be anything – abstract, flowers, landscapes, buildings, portraits, my hand … anything. Other than a time limit of 1-2 hours and the pre-cut and labelled papers, there are no other rules
I’ll post the pieces on my Instagram each day and posting stories of anyone else who is participating. I’ll follow up at the end with a blog post.
Anyone want to join me? Adults and/or kids welcome.
If so, let me know or use the Instagram hashtag #31dayartmakingchallenge Also, please make your own rules – whatever size, shape, medium you want and that includes baking, decorating, quilting. Be you!
Earlier this month, I created 4 images to help friends visually fight for and with Black Lives Matter while including and celebrating LGBTQ Pride. Since then more than 250 items have been made from it – t-shirts, tank tops, posters, and law signs. $500 has been raised for Black Trans Advocacy Coalition as well.
The images and message continue to resonate so I’ve created a few links in case you want to print something.
In exchange I ask 3 things:
Don’t change or crop the file or remove my signature
Don’t use what you make for profit (though raising money, with no profit, for BLM and/or LGBTQ causes is great)
Local Printers – local printers can print posters or lawn signs for you (and if they are closed for Covid reasons, Fedex can too)
Image Files
Use the files in this folder of the image below to upload to your printing site. Included here are 2 PNG files (similar to JPG but better), at 300 dpi, sized to 11×17 (largest size for printing) – one has a white background and one has no background. Please let me know if you need a different file type.
See the bottom of this page or this Instagram post for images of printed products.

171 Newbury Street, Summer 2019 [Extended indefinitely!] by appointment
We kicked off the show of my newest works, including my first time showing a new series of works on paper, at this past Thursday at ShawSpring Partner’s offices on Newbury Street – and it was so much fun!
Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the work, kick of summer, and fete their gorgeous offices (which were formerly an art gallery). It was wonderful to meet so many friends and clients of ShawSpring Partner as well as friends, family, and collectors of my paintings.
And a very big thank you to ShawSpring’s Paul Lashway, Dennis Hong, and James Reynold as well as Rob Hagan and Lauren Lashway, for the effort to plan, hang, and execute such a wonderful show. Thank you!
The show will be up until at least September 2019 and can be viewed by appointment. If you’d like to see it, let me know and I’ll happily meet you there.
Spring is almost here in New England (fingers crossed!) and what a way to kick it off: I’m the April Artist at Frobie’s Cafe in Dracut, MA! [June update: show is still going!
This ticks off a few firsts for me: first cafe show, first show on non-white walls (I love it!), and first time in Dracut, MA. It is 28 miles from Boston, right next to Lowell, on the New Hampshire border, and a jewel of the Merrimack Valley. It is worth the drive, and not just for the great art.
Oh, and Frobie’s isn’t just any old cafe. The first time I stopped by the tables were full and there was a line out the door for the great coffee, smoothies, ice cream, and sandwiches. It is family owned, very kid and student friendly, and yet adults were nearby relaxing and reading. It supports local farms (which, apparently, Dracut has a ton of) – even hosting the summer Farmers’ Market. It holds the title of Merrimack Valley Magazine’s best cafe 2018 and is in the running for 2019.
We are 4 days into the show and it has been a great welcome from the Merrimack Valley already with Sherbet Networks finding the perfect home on day 2 (it will stay on the walls until the end of the show)!
Check out the show pictures below and go check out Frobies, Dracut, and the art in person.
Commissioning a painting may feel intimidating but this thoughtful gift giver knew the general parameters of what the intended recipient would want as that special surprise to recognize the rare, and oft neglected, Christmas day birthday. “We love Ground Swell, just slightly smaller and add purples, lots of them!”
Amethyst Swell is just that. Stretched across a 24 x 48 inch canvas with a white matte background, twists and turns of more than 10 purples, 6 blues, whites, pearls, and iridescent hues create fascinating movement that runs over the ends. Each time you look at it you see a new vignette of color and shape.
Look closely at the close ups below to see a few of my favorite parts: the deep pools of purple that look 100 feet deep, the foaming blue way cresting on the far right, and the pockets of cellular structures with thin strings of all the colors wrapped around their edges.
My solo at The Gallery at South End Realty Group has been extended through Summer 2018!
With that in mind, and some sold paintings that needed to be delivered, I added new paintings to the show and recurated it to highlight the new large-scale paintings that came in. All painting are being added to the site but in the meantime check out these snapshots taken right after it was recurated.
The show is open 7 days a week: Monday – Saturday 10 – 6 PM and Sunday 11 – 2 PM. Please stop by.
Ground Swell arrived in its new penthouse home overlooking Boston Harbor, Bunker Hill, and the city skyline in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts in late June. Framed in a black floating frame by my favorite framers, The Picture Store in Boston’s South End, Ground Swell is the interior focal point of the this home’s lower level. Welcome home, Ground Swell!
Cliff Walk arrived in its new home in San Diego, California in early May. I love how it looks against these gray walls and how its colors show differently as the natural light changes through out the day. Welcome home, Cliff Walk!
